Service Description

We are delighted to welcome Julie Simon to the studio all the way from Missouri. In this hands-on workshop, Julie will guide a step-by-step process for painting and transferring custom-designed paper images onto leather-hard clay surfaces. Participants will learn techniques and tips about paper transfers, including painting underglaze designs, patterns or text onto newsprint and transferring and securing images onto clay surfaces. Julie will also share variations and enhancements to create multi-layer designs. Participants will leave the class with their own paper transfer test tiles, using several paper transfer decorating techniques. ʘ develop skills for painting and transferring paper images ʘ gain knowledge about various ways to transfer images onto clay surfaces ʘ learn tips and tricks for achieving crisp clean results ʘ combine transfers with Mishima inlays to create multi-layer surface designs Julie Simon is a proficient seasoned potter and instructor, with a proven track record teaching wheel throwing, hand-building and decorating techniques in her full-service studio and in several community organizations in St. Louis, Missouri.
