Our Story

Belfast Ceramics Studio has been founded by myself, Helen Faulkner, a potter for over 15 years. It has been something I have wanted to open for a long time, alongside making tableware that I sell in shops across the UK and Ireland, props for film work as well as the occasional market I have always taught pottery classes, whether it's throwing at festivals or hand-building classes in art centres.

Last year the opportunity came to open a teaching studio when the space next to my current workshop became available. I signed the contract on 1st June 2023, our first class was on 1st July and members started 1st September.

I want the space to be an open and inviting environment for makers of all levels who want to share their passion for clay and learn more about their craft.

WHAT IS BELFAST CERAMICS STUDIO?

Belfast Ceramics Studio is an open access clay studio providing classes for all levels in ceramic techniques as well as membership based access for professional makers and independent hobby potters.

Classes are available for non-members and members and will range from introduction to clay, leisure classes as well as professional development classes in business, studio practice and masterclasses from skilled visiting makers.

WHERE IS IT?

The studio is in an old textiles mill in east Belfast, it is next door to my own studio. It has huge big windows that fill the space with natural light.

To find us:
Unit 10E Owen O'Cork Mill, 288 Beersbridge Road Belfast BT55DX

The entrance to the mill carpark is opposite the petrol station on the Beersbridge Road. The entrance to the mill is 3/4 way down the left hand building a big blue door, we are in there and up one flight of stairs, at the top of the stairs turn right and we are on this corridor.
