Repeat Throwing - Improvers
Focus on cylinders & consistency
Service Description
This workshop is designed to improve your throwing consistency, when you first start throwing it is such a joy to be able to create anything pot shaped on the wheel but after time it can become frustrating when you have a shape in mind and the clay just seems to do what it wants! Over 3 hours you will learn how to replicate a cylinder, learning how to choose the right weight of clay, using gauges and techniques to control and create height. The aim is to not turn you all into production throwers but to create control and confidence. You should be able to throw a cylinder at least 10cm high to be able to get the most from this workshop. You can keep 3 of your favourite pieces to be glazed and collected 3 weeks later. Helen Faulkner has been a potter for over 15 years. After training in The Design & Crafts Council of Ireland Pottery Skills course she developed tableware ranges for shops and restaurants across the UK and Ireland as well as props for film and TV.
