Ceramic ghosts and pumpkins
with James Stanley Watson
Service Description
2 Saturdays 11th & 18th October 10am - 1pm Make some hauntingly unique ceramic ghosts and pumpkins using press moulds, then decorate them with underglazes and oxides. Join James for a two-part workshop where you'll make ceramic ghosts and pumpkins, perfect for the spooky season (the best time of the year). In the first session, you'll learn how to use press moulds to create your own ghost and pumpkin forms, working with clay to build character and personality into each piece. We'll discuss tips for shaping, adding details, and preparing your creations for firing. Between sessions, your pieces will be fired. When you return for the second session, you'll bring your ghosts and pumpkins to life with colour! You'll learn techniques for using underglazes and oxides to decorate your fired work. No prior ceramics experience needed. All materials and firings are included. Come get creative and craft your own ghostly masterpieces! James is a ceramic artist known for creating playful, characterful pieces that explore the line between the eerie and the charming. His work often features ghosts, pumpkins, and sheep, each crafted with personality and care. Winner of The Great Pottery Throw Down, James now works from his studio in Belfast.
