Beginners Throwing Course - mornings

Thursdays 6th - 27th March 10-12 noon Learn the foundations of pottery throwing with our 4 week beginners course. Our expert instructor Gillian will guide beginner potters through the fundamentals, teaching the necessary techniques to produce beautiful pottery pieces. With a small group of only 4 people per session, each person will work on their own wheel and will be guided through making pottery on the wheel using stoneware clay. Week 1 - Throwing basics. Week 2 - Throwing new shapes. Week 3 - Turning. Week 4 - Glazing. Gillian is a Belfast based potter who is originally from Galway and takes lots of her inspiration from her west coast home place. Gillian fell in love with pottery when she was knee high, and after school, Gillian followed another career path and dipped in and out with her pottery hobby as and when she could but her underlying longing to work with clay as more than a hobbyist remained strong. In 2019 she took the first steps to her pottery career and worked part time as a classroom assistant while setting up in her garden shed, in 2023 she became a full time potter. Refunds can only issued up to 7 days before the course or class starts. After this period, if you cannot make the class your course fee will the retained. However you may transfer your space to another person but please let us know of the change.
